Air France Becomes Official Partner of the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics
The national carrier is gearing up to welcome the world to France from July 24 to August 11, 2024, for the 2024 Paris Olympics and from August 28 to September 8, 2024, for the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
As an official partner of the 33rd modern-era Olympics, Air France reaffirms its support for hosting this global event, having been a partner since Paris 2024's candidacy in 2016.
"We are proud to renew our support for the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics. After sharing in the excitement of Paris being chosen as the host city, we are eager to contribute to the success of this global event. The 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics resonate with Air France's ambition and values. More than ever, in the summer of 2024, we will showcase the best of France to the world by promoting excellence, respect, and inclusivity," states Benjamin Smith, CEO of Air France-KLM Group.
Air France is already preparing for the magic of the Games. Its teams in Paris and around the world are mobilized to prepare for the arrival of athletes, supporters, and media in France for the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics.
Special attention will be given to travelers with reduced mobility and disabilities, who can rely on the company's Saphir service for any assistance requests.
Air France's staff is also gearing up to transport the sports equipment required for various Olympic and Paralympic disciplines, including javelins, poles, kayaks, bicycles, wheelchairs, and surfboards for events at Tahiti's Teahupo'o wave.
Air France will participate in the registration process at the Olympic and Paralympic Village in Seine Saint-Denis, enabling athletes to check-in and deposit their luggage and sports equipment directly on-site before their return flights. They can then proceed to the airport via a dedicated route.
Air France has been supporting the city of Paris's bid to host the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics since 2016. Ten aircraft from the airline were adorned with a stylized Eiffel Tower logo representing the numbers 24 for several years.
In September 2017, the victorious French delegation led by Tony Estanguet returned from Lima aboard an Air France flight after Paris was designated as the host city for the 2024 Olympics. On August 9, 2021, after five years in Japan, the Olympic flag flew to Paris on an Air France plane at the conclusion of the Tokyo 2020 Games' closing ceremony. Welcomed at Paris-Charles de Gaulle by the airline's teams, the French delegation officially announced the countdown to July 26, 2024, the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Games.
A Record During the 1992 Albertville Games
Air France has been transporting French and international sports delegations to the Olympic Games since 1952.
As the official international carrier of the 1992 Albertville (Savoie) Olympics and an official partner of the French Olympic and Paralympic team during that edition, Air France transported the Olympic flame from Athens to Paris at speeds of 2,200 km/h aboard the Concorde. This historic feat earned the airline a record for the fastest Olympic flame transport in history.
