Spotify Denies Removing Mohamed Assaf ‘Dammi Falasteeni’ Song

Spotify denies removing Mohamed Assaf "Dammi Falasteeni" song over alleged rule violations

Spotify has refuted claims that it removed the popular song "Dammi Falasteeni" by Palestinian singer Mohamed Assaf due to violations of its platform rules, sparking a major controversy. Assaf received an official email citing accusations of anti-Semitism as the reason for the song removal from music streaming platforms.

However, Spotify clarified that the decision to take down the content was made at the request of the distributor and expressed hope for its prompt return.

The removal of the song came after pro-Israel groups launched a targeted campaign, leading to a petition and a strong social media backlash demanding its reinstatement. Assaf expressed his surprise at the removal and emphasized the song significance in showcasing Palestinian resilience against occupation.

Despite Spotify explanation, users continue to voice their demands for the song return, with many sharing its lyrics online as a testament to its positive message.

Assaf, who became the first Palestinian to win Arab Idol, gained international recognition for his talent and his efforts to raise awareness about the Palestinian cause.
