Lucas Hernandez reaches agreement with PSG amid squad revamp

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) is wasting no time in strengthening its squad following a disappointing European campaign this season. Reports suggest that PSG is closing in on a deal with Bayern Munich defender Lucas Hernandez, as per L'Equipe.

PSG is looking to reinforce its defense, and the potential deal has been made possible due to Presnel Kimpembe struggles with injuries. Hernandez, who has one year left on his contract with Bayern Munich, has reportedly agreed on personal terms with PSG.

However, the deal might face obstacles as Bayern Munich Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidzic is prepared to offer Hernandez a new three-year contract to persuade him to stay with the club.

Although Hernandez has a history of injuries, including missing the 2022 World Cup due to an anterior cruciate ligament rupture, he is known for his versatility and defensive skills when fit.

In addition to pursuing Hernandez, PSG has also made an offer of €60 million for Sporting CP Manuel Ugarte, according to Portuguese media reports. Ugarte, a promising defensive midfielder, is currently considering the offer and remains open to a move to Paris.

It is worth noting that Chelsea had previously shown interest in Ugarte, with club owner Todd Boehly reportedly impressed by the Uruguayan footballer. If the deal goes through, it would mark Ugarte third team in his career, with PSG offering him a five-year contract at the Parc des Princes.
