PSG cancels gala dinner as goalkeeper Sergio Rico is injured in horse riding accident

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has decided to cancel a gala dinner as a sign of respect for goalkeeper Sergio Rico, who sustained a head injury after falling from a horse on Sunday morning. The announcement was made by PSG on Tuesday. Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of PSG, personally made the decision, stating that the situation with Rico requires their full attention.

"The current situation demands our full attention and compels us to cancel our traditional gala. The entire PSG family is deeply affected by the tragic accident involving Sergio Rico and his loved ones," Al-Khelaifi said.

He further expressed the club's support and heartfelt sympathy for Rico and his family during this difficult time.

In other news, PSG has expressed interest in acquiring Martin Odegaard from Arsenal in a summer transfer.

At present, the Spanish goalkeeper is receiving medical treatment at the intensive care unit of Hospital Virgen del Rocio. According to the Spanish news outlet Relevo, the 29-year-old was rushed to the hospital in Seville after suffering head injuries when a runaway horse collided with the horse he was riding.

A statement from the hospital, as published by Le Parisien, mentioned that Rico's general condition is stable but serious. He is still awaiting further medical evaluation in the coming days. Rico remains in the intensive care unit under the care of specialists in intensive medicine and is currently sedated.

Rico's wife, Alba Silva, expressed her concern for his health on Instagram, posting a heartfelt message: "Don't leave me alone, my love, because I swear I can't, nor do I know how to live without you. We are waiting for you, my life. We love you so much."
