HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Meets Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games Champions
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who serves as HM the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, has applauded the outstanding accomplishments of Bahrain's athletes at the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou in 2022.
During a meeting with the champions of the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games and the administrative delegation of the Olympic Committee, he commended their exceptional performance and unwavering dedication to representing the Kingdom of Bahrain on the global stage.
His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA), and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), was also in attendance.
HH conveyed the congratulations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the Bahraini heroes who secured an impressive total of 20 medals, including 12 gold, 3 silver, and 5 bronze.
HH Shaikh Nasser also extended his admiration to "Team Bahrain" for their remarkable performance at the Asian Games, where they achieved the ninth position in Asia and first in the Arab world. This marks the highest number of gold medals attained by Bahrain since their participation in 1974. Additionally, the team set seven new records in the Asian Games.
HH Shaikh Nasser praised the Bahraini national teams for their exceptional fighting spirit, determination, and unwavering resolve demonstrated throughout the tournament.
He commended the achievements in various sports, including athletics, weightlifting, wrestling, handball, and jiu-jitsu, underscoring the rapid growth and development of Bahraini sports and the true essence of Bahraini athletes.
HH Shaikh Nasser also lauded the sacrifices made by the technical and administrative teams, acknowledging their pivotal role in attaining these remarkable achievements.
He noted that, with the support of HM the King, Bahraini sports are currently experiencing a golden era. This accomplishment serves as a stepping stone, motivating the pursuit of excellence in future Games.
