Triumphant Success Marks the 10th Edition of IPEM in Cannes: Recap of Key Moments from the International Conference: Cannes, France : The 10th edition of IPEM, held at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes, saw outstanding success, bringing together the crème de la crème of the European private markets industry. With a remarkable 28% growth compared to the previous year, this event attracted over 3,300 delegates, including 483 GPs, 322 investors, and 306 advisors, representing 1,307 companies from 46 countries.
The event commenced with a morning dedicated to exploring the evolving role of Limited Partners (LPs), setting the tone for the second day of IPEM. Following a full day of yoga, sector-specific discussions, networking, and convivial evenings, the morning session centered around knowledge-sharing, with practitioners in the private markets displaying palpable enthusiasm.
The core theme of the first session delved into "How does the practical rebalancing of power work?" featuring insights from Anastasia Amoroso, Chief Investment Strategist at iCapital, and Bruno Sollazo, Group Head of PE Investments at Generali. The discussions underscored the spectacular growth of the private markets industry over the last decade, attracting heightened interest from private investors and regulatory scrutiny.
Anastasia Amoroso underscored the importance of transparency and compliance as the sector charts a potential course towards $28 trillion over the next 15 years. The recently introduced regulations by the SEC last summer bear testament to the necessity of heightened transparency.
The latter part of the day featured engaging summit sessions, covering topics such as energy transition, private debt, private markets consolidation, and the ascendancy of continuation funds. Discussions shed light on the escalating significance of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) integration and climate mapping in shaping investment decisions.
The summit on energy transition brought to the forefront essential subjects, including ESG integration and climate roadmaps as imperative considerations. Speakers emphasized the need to align investments with climate impact and biodiversity.
In concluding this memorable edition, Antoine Colson, CEO and Managing Partner of IPEM, expressed gratitude to the participants, contributing to making this 10th edition an exceptional experience. "We eagerly anticipate reconnecting with you in September 2024 in Paris for our grand international fundraising gathering!"
The event concluded with a celebratory cocktail on the terrace, providing participants with a moment of relaxation and networking against the backdrop of the sun gently setting over the picturesque city of Cannes.
