Qetaifan Projects, a fully owned subsidiary of Katara Hospitality, showcased its flagship development, Qetaifan Island North, at MIPIM 2025, The Global Urban Festival in Cannes, France. Representing Qatar’s booming real estate sector, Qetaifan Projects presented the island alongside its key development partners: Dar Global, developer of Les Vagues by Elie Saab, and JMJ, the visionary behind The Grove by Zaha Hadid. The event marked a pivotal moment in Qatar’s growing influence on the international real estate stage.
The Qatari pavilion at MIPIM attracted significant attention, drawing visitors eager to learn more about Qetaifan Island North’s potential. In addition to Qetaifan Projects, the Real Estate Regulatory Authority – Aqarat and Invest Qatar participated, reinforcing Qatar’s commitment to promoting its real estate market globally.
Khalid Al Jassim, Senior Business Development Officer at Qetaifan Projects, commented, “Our involvement in MIPIM 2025 underscores our commitment to establishing Qetaifan Island North as a global destination embodying entertainment, luxury, and innovation. Our participation reflects the growing confidence in our vision to create a unique model of living and entertainment in Qatar, which will elevate the island’s status as a one-of-a-kind destination attracting visitors worldwide.”
A major highlight of the Qatari pavilion was the stunning Meryal Waterpark, one of the island’s most iconic landmarks. Spanning 281,000 square meters, the park features 36 water rides, including the world-record-holding The Rig 1938. This tower, inspired by Qatar’s oil and gas history, holds two Guinness World Records for the Tallest Waterslide (76.306 meters) and for having the Most Waterslides from a Single Tower, with a total of 12. The park’s unique design includes a vintage train linking it to the city of Meryal, adding an element of adventure to the visitor experience.
Qetaifan Island North is a prime example of a modern, integrated city that merges luxury and leisure. Its offerings include the Rixos Premium Qetaifan Island North with 350 rooms and 10 chalets, the Azure Beach Club, Twenty-Seven Mosque, residential units, commercial facilities, and numerous recreational spaces. The island also features the Majra Alsail Sea Canal and promenade, with panoramic views of Lusail City.
With the development of Qetaifan Island North, Qetaifan Projects is positioning Qatar as a global leader in sustainable, innovative real estate. The island aims to enhance Qatar’s place on the world tourism map by blending luxury, entertainment, and cutting-edge infrastructure into one world-class destination.
Qetaifan Projects' successful participation at MIPIM 2025 has reinforced Qatar's growing reputation as a hub for innovative urban development, furthering the country's vision to attract global visitors, tourists, and investors.
