Qatar Showcases New Tourism Projects and Luxury Offerings at ILTM Cannes 2021

In a concerted effort to spotlight its burgeoning tourism initiatives and opulent attractions, Qatar Tourism made a significant presence at ILTM Cannes 2021, assembling a formidable Qatari delegation. As Qatar charts its course toward becoming a premier global destination, it is aligning its tourism expansion with the goals of Qatar's National Vision 2030.

The cornerstone of Qatar's tourism strategy is centered around elevating the visitor experience. Under the banner of the "Qatar Tourism Strategy 2030," the country has introduced an array of captivating experiences, including a wave of new luxury hotels, theme parks, shops, and major leisure projects. Many of these have already opened, with others scheduled to launch in the lead-up to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

To accommodate the influx of tourists, Qatar is actively building over 100 new hotels and serviced apartments. Among these new properties are the prestigious Raffles Hotel and Fairmont Hotel and Resort at Katara Towers, Rosewood Doha, and the St. Regis Marsa Arabia Island. These additions will significantly enhance Qatar's appeal to high-value travelers, augmenting its already extensive portfolio of 80 five and four-star hotels.

Berthold Trenkel, Chief Operating Officer of Qatar Tourism, expressed the country's commitment to expanding its tourism offerings, stating, "We are continuing to expand our tourism offering and are excited to introduce guests to the best of Qatari hospitality. In 2019, we saw over two million visitors to Qatar, and we hope to see similar growth trends now that we are welcoming visitors back to the country again. We are now less than one year until the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM, so now is the perfect time to visit Qatar."

Several major tourism projects are also on the horizon, including Place Vendome, a shopping mall boasting 580 retail outlets, two five-star hotels, and entertainment zones. Additionally, the West Bay North Beach project will feature six beaches, restaurants, and outdoor activities, while Qetaifan Island North is poised to become Qatar's first entertainment island, complete with five-star hotels, resorts, beach clubs, and water parks.

To facilitate travel to Qatar and ensure safety amid the ongoing pandemic, streamlined measures have been implemented. The "Qatar Clean" program, developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health, upholds rigorous hygiene and cleanliness standards to safeguard customers. The program has already certified all Qatar Tourism-licensed hotels as "Qatar Clean" and is expanding its reach to encompass restaurants and various other sectors, including transport, retail, and culture. These efforts underscore Qatar's commitment to providing a safe and enriching experience for visitors.
