Qatar Tourism Gears Up for ILTM Asia Pacific 2022 Exhibition

In a recent Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, Qatar Tourism's participation in the ILTM Asia Pacific 2022 exhibition was approved. The event is slated to take place in Singapore from June 20 to 23, 2022.

During the meeting, the Cabinet first received an update from HE Minister of Public Health Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari on the latest developments in the efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The Cabinet underscored the importance of continuing the ongoing precautionary measures aimed at combatting the pandemic effectively.

The Cabinet then addressed several topics on the agenda, with the following key decisions:

1. Approval of a Draft Law Regulating the Right to Obtain Information: The Cabinet approved a draft law regulating the right to obtain information, referring it to the Shura Council for further consideration. The draft law was prepared by the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority with the aim of enhancing transparency and integrity while aligning with global standards in this area.

2. Approval of a Draft Amiri Decision Amending Water Resources Provisions: The Cabinet granted approval for a draft Amiri Decision that includes amendments to certain provisions of Decision No. 19 of 2011, which established the Standing Committee for Water Resources.

3. Qatar Tourism's Participation in ILTM Asia Pacific 2022: The Cabinet greenlit Qatar Tourism's participation in the ILTM Asia Pacific 2022 exhibition, scheduled to be held in Singapore next year. This participation signifies Qatar's commitment to showcasing its tourism offerings on a global stage, fostering partnerships, and attracting international travelers.

4. Ratification of a Memorandum of Understanding with the World Customs Organization: The Cabinet endorsed taking the necessary steps to ratify a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the General Authority of Customs of the State of Qatar and the World Customs Organization. This MoU aims to establish a regional training center affiliated with the World Customs Organization in Qatar.

These decisions underscore Qatar's ongoing efforts to bolster its tourism sector, strengthen international partnerships, and contribute to global initiatives in areas such as transparency, information accessibility, and customs training. Qatar Tourism's participation in ILTM Asia Pacific 2022 reflects the country's dedication to showcasing its unique attractions and expanding its presence in the global travel market.
