Shahin Mani and Sherif Koyess, the co-founders of Tithorea production company, have enjoyed monumental triumphs with projects such as the music and arts spectacle Labryinto in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Their latest revelation, Medaina, is now in the spotlight – a groundbreaking 5-day festival set in two stunning locations within the illustrious Kingdom of Jordan. This unprecedented fusion will utilize the breathtaking sites of Petra and Wadi Rum to host an avant-garde electronic music and arts festival.
Taking place from May 22 to May 27, 2024, the grandeur of Medaina will unfold across both the legendary Petra and Wadi Rum. The curtain will rise on May 22 with an immersive experience within Petra's rock-carved city, followed by a special presentation on May 23. Subsequently, the festivities will shift to Wadi Rum on May 24, culminating in a grand extravaganza on the 25th amidst the awe-inspiring Valley of the Moon.
Medaina is anchored by five pillars of creativity: music, art, gastronomy, culture, and sustainability. Prepare to be captivated by a lineup featuring globally acclaimed artists, both international and local, delivering captivating visuals, thought-provoking presentations, and an immersive environment that pushes boundaries. With participants expected from over 70 countries, Medaina is set to transcend borders and become a truly global affair. Petra, renowned as one of the Seven Wonders of the World, is a testament to human ingenuity. Most notable for the iconic Treasury, a structure intricately carved into rock, the site also boasts an array of temples that leave an indelible impression. Wadi Rum, situated in southern Jordan, offers a captivating blend of natural splendors and cultural heritage. Its desert landscape features narrow gorges, natural arches, towering cliffs, and hidden caverns. With petroglyphs, inscriptions, and archaeological remnants spanning 12,000 years of human history, and over 25,000 rock carvings and 20,000 inscriptions tracing the evolution of human thought and early alphabet development, Wadi Rum is a treasure trove of history.
The name "Medaina" is a fusion of "Mediterranean" and "ain," the Arabic word for "spring." Water played a crucial role in Petra's development as a trading nexus for the Mediterranean. The festival is dedicated to honoring this foundational civilization.
