Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Sergio Rico is currently in intensive care after being involved in a horse riding accident. The 29-year-old was rushed to a hospital in Seville, Spain, after suffering head injuries when a runaway horse collided with the animal he was riding.
Rico, who previously played for Sevilla, received support from his former club, with a message on their social media accounts wishing him strength and a speedy recovery.
As the backup goalkeeper to Gianluigi Donnarumma at PSG, Rico had returned to his hometown after PSG coach, Christophe Galtier, gave the players a day off following their recent Ligue 1 title win.
During his time at Sevilla, Rico won the UEFA Europa League in 2015 and 2016, playing in 170 competitive matches before joining PSG in 2019. However, with the arrival of Donnarumma, Rico was relegated to the role of the backup goalkeeper.
Fans have expressed their support for Rico online, sending prayers and well wishes to him and his family during this difficult time.
As of now, PSG has not made any official comments regarding the incident through its official channels.
