His Majesty the King Meets with the President of the Italian Republic
Today, His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, held a meeting with His Excellency President Sergio Mattarella, the President of the Italian Republic, at the Presidential Palace in Rome. This meeting took place during His Majesty's official visit to Italy. Upon the King's arrival, President Mattarella extended a warm welcome, recognizing the visit as a significant catalyst for strengthening Bahraini-Italian relations.
During the meeting, both leaders conducted a comprehensive review of their robust bilateral relations, focusing on avenues for further enhancement to achieve shared objectives. They also deliberated on the most recent regional and global developments, including the situation in the Gaza Strip.
His Majesty the King reaffirmed Bahrain's commitment to promoting security, stability, and lasting peace. He stressed the importance of granting the Palestinian people their rightful rights and finding an equitable resolution to the Palestinian predicament. His Majesty emphasized the necessity of pursuing a two-state solution in accordance with the Arab Peace Initiative, which secures the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The King underscored the urgency of preventing any deterioration in the situation, advocated for the release of detained civilians, and called for the safeguarding of all civilians, as stipulated by international humanitarian law. He emphasized the immediate need to establish humanitarian corridors for the delivery of medical and relief assistance, food, water, and electricity to Gaza. His Majesty reiterated Bahrain's unwavering support for the coordination of all endeavors aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace, along with stability and security for all the people in the region.
