Myriam El Hajj's DIARIES FROM LEBANON Premieres at 74th Berlinale to Acclaim

Myriam El Hajj's DIARIES FROM LEBANON premiered at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) to widespread acclaim, marking a significant moment for Lebanese cinema.

The premiere, held at the Panorama Section, garnered enthusiastic responses from attendees, including audiences, celebrities, and media personnel. Notable figures such as director Myriam El Hajj, producers Myriam Sassine and Carine Ruszniewski, along with Lebanese author and activist Joumana Haddad, artist and activist Perla Joe Maalouli, and MAD Solutions. Co-Founders Alaa Karkouti and Maher Diab, were among those present.

Following the screening, DIARIES FROM LEBANON received praise from critics and media. Malik Berkati of J:mag Switzerland lauded the film's portrayal of a generation navigating change amidst adversity. Mahari Seghid of African Refugees News commended its depiction of Lebanon's socio-political landscape. Lida Bach of MovieBreak praised its unique perspective on ongoing protests and societal impact.

Co-written, directed, and co-lensed by El Hajj alongside Jihad Saadé and Mohamed Siam. The documentary provides an intimate view of Lebanon's recent history through personal diaries. Produced by Sassine of Abbout Productions and Ruszniewski of GoGoGo Films. The film was edited by Anita Perez and Stéphanie Sicard.

Featuring prominent figures like author and activist Joumana Haddad Lebanese. War veteran Georges Moufarej, and artist and activist Perla Joe Maalouli, DIARIES FROM LEBANON offers a compelling insight into the complexities of Lebanese society.

Myriam El Hajj, known for her previous work A TIME TO REST, continues to contribute to Lebanese cinema. Her involvement in film education and support for women filmmakers through initiatives like Rawiyat-Sisters in Film demonstrate her commitment to advancing the industry.
