Interior Minister Commends Alternative Sentencing and Open Prisons Initiatives
The Interior Minister welcomed Director-General of Verdict Enforcement and Alternative Sentencing, Shaikh Khalid bin Rashid Al Khalifa. During the meeting, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa highlighted the strong support for the reform initiatives of the alternative sentencing and open prisons programs, which are endorsed by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. He also praised the continuous backing provided by the government, led by HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for these vital endeavors.
General Shaikh Rashid expressed his admiration for the dedication and exceptional performance of the staff under the directorate. He emphasized that the successful graduation of the inaugural cohort from the open prisons program is a testament to the effectiveness of the alternative sanctions project, setting a remarkable example in the domains of human rights and community service.
The Minister stressed that the collaborative efforts with government entities, private sectors, and civil society organizations in implementing the alternative sanctions project reflect a strong sense of social cohesion.
