Saudi Arabia has unveiled its first autonomous food delivery service in Riyadh, situated in the ROSHN Front Business Area. The service is a joint effort by the ROSHN Group and the delivery app Jahez, officially licensed by the Transport General Authority.
The pilot program features five autonomous robots, each outfitted with GPS, 20+ sensors, high-definition cameras, and climate-controlled compartments. This advanced technology ensures meals reach customers safely and maintain quality, even under extreme heat conditions.
The initiative has environmental benefits as well. By decreasing the use of conventional delivery vehicles, it helps reduce traffic congestion, curb emissions, and improve air quality. The project aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader vision for sustainable, high-tech urban development.
Authorities plan to extend the service to shopping centers and residential areas, integrating autonomous delivery into everyday life. The program also serves as a testbed for further robotic and AI applications in urban infrastructure.
The launch marks a milestone for the Kingdom, highlighting the role of technology in shaping smart, livable cities. Experts suggest autonomous delivery can become a model for other urban areas seeking to balance convenience, sustainability, and innovation.
Saudi Arabia’s push for technology-driven urban services reflects its commitment to Vision 2030, emphasizing innovation, sustainability, and quality of life. By blending convenience, efficiency, and environmental responsibility, autonomous delivery robots in Riyadh illustrate the country’s leadership in next-generation urban solutions.
