The International Youth and Junior Table Tennis Championship in Doha Continues

The competitions of the International Youth and Junior Table Tennis Championship, currently being held in the female gymnasium of the Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence, continued today and will run until the day after tomorrow (Saturday). A total of 96 players from 21 countries are participating in the event.

Here are today results: In the under-19 singles competition, Chinese player Wan Ribo clinched the title by defeating Poland Milosz Rdzimski in the final with a score of 3-1. In the under-19 doubles category, the Polish duo of Milosz Rdzimski and Matejow Zalewski secured the first place after beating the Chinese duo of Wang Jixuan and Li Haixin 3-1.

In the mixed youth doubles category, the Chinese duo of San Yang and Yu Xinran defeated the French pair of Flavien Cotton and Charlotte Lutz with a score of 3-2.

China also took the U-15 singles title, with Wang Jixuan winning the gold medal by defeating Japan Kun Hyuk with a score of 3-1.

In the junior doubles category, the South Korean duo of Lee Sang-soo and Kwon Hyuk claimed the top spot after beating the Chinese duo of Shi Jumbo and Heo Haiyang 3-0, while the Japanese duo of Tamito Watanabe and Yuna Ogyu won the mixed doubles title in the same category by defeating the Chinese duo of Li Hexin and Shang Lingfei 3-0.

The winners were awarded their medals by Mohammed Abdullah Saleh, the Secretary-General of the Qatari Table Tennis Federation and the tournament director, Ali Sultan Al Muftah, the Deputy Secretary-General of the Federation, and Thani Al Zarraa, the President of the National Teams Committee.

In the upcoming days, there will be singles and doubles competitions for girls under 15, as well as singles and doubles competitions for girls under 19.

Thani Al Zarraa, President of the Backgammon Federation Teams Committee and Chairman of the tournament media committee, praised the level of competition and stated: The participants demonstrated impressive technical performances, given the participation of top-tier countries, including China, South Korea, and Japan.

Regarding the performances of the Qatari national team players, Al-Zarraa confirmed that the Al-Adam players achieved honorable performances and met the desired goals, in line with the plans developed by the Qatari Federation and in accordance with the vision of the Qatar Olympic Committee to prepare outstanding athletes for the Doha 2030 Asian Games.
